Documentary Film Festival
Ambulante organizes an international documentary film festival in collaboration with CANANA, Cinépolis, and Morelia International Film Festival, that travels to various states in Mexico for over 3 months.
By presenting more than 100 documentary films, and hosting about 120 national and international special guests, in over 150 venues, Ambulante promotes the exhibition of Mexican and foreign documentary film throughout the country.
The festival is non-competitive, and offers 60% of its programming for free. Each year in addition to the festival program, there are workshops, discussions with filmmakers, conferences, seminars, panels on the film industry, special screenings, outdoor screenings, events in schools and universities, drive-in cinema, and since 2011, a series of documentaries in VIVE LATINO (Festival of Rock Music and Culture).
Ambulante Documentary Film Festival will travel to 12 states in Mexico from January 30 to May 4 2014, with an international program of about 100 titles. The Festival will go to Mexico City ( January 30 to February 13), Guerrero (February 13 to 20), Zacatecas (February 13 to 20), Puebla (February 20 to 27), Veracruz (February 27 to March 6), Nuevo León (March 6 to 13), Coahuila (March 13 to 20), Michoacán (March 20 to 27), Chiapas (March 27 to April 3), Jalisco (April 3 to 10), Baja California (April 10 to 17) and Oaxaca (April 24 to May 4).
Expand traditional commercial venues for documentaries.
Foster an approach to diverse realities.
Provide tools of transformation and contribute to the creation of an active society.
Decentralize and diversify the exhibition of documentary film to reach new audiences. Our itinerant festival is meant for a general audience, not for a specialized industry, to make this genre available for more people and in places where there is little access to it.
Discover and support Mexican filmmakers and promote documentary films that reflect a unique vision and voice.
Engage several disciplines in the festival, and thus, offering a wider range of cultural expressions – theatre, music and multi-platform projects.
